UFC 305 TO TAKE PLACE IN AUSTRALIA AS PART OF NEW MULTI-YEAR PARTNERSHIP

The UFC will return to Perth, Australia for a pay-per-view this summer as the organization announced a multi-year partnership with the Western Australian Government through Tourism Western Australia.

UFC 305 will take place Aug. 17 (Aug. 18 local) and will mark the third time the mixed martial arts promotion has held an event at RAC Arena.

“Perth, I am so excited to be coming back!” UFC CEO Dana White exclaimed in a press release. “After a record-breaking event in 2023, I can’t wait to bring another massive pay-per-view to Western Australia. Perth is a world class city with some of the most passionate fight fans I’ve ever seen – UFC 305 is going to be INCREDIBLE!”

UFC 221 in February 2018 was the first UFC event held in Perth with UFC 284 in February 2023 being the second.

No matchups for UFC 305 have been announced.

A trio of Australian UFC stars – former featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, rising welterweight contender Jack Della Maddalena, who’s from Perth, plus the next men’s flyweight title challenger Steve Erceg – attended an official announcement at Scrappy MMA, a gym in Willetton.

Volkanovski has not fought since his knockout loss to Ilia Topuria in February; Della Maddalena has won 17 consecutive fights and finished Gilbert Burns via strikes earlier this month at UFC 299; Erceg is preparing for his UFC 301 main event title fight with Alexandre Pantoja in May.

All three could be candidates to compete at the Aug. 17 event depending on how the next couple months unfold.

The UFC has hosted 17 live events in Australia since 2010.
